If you could become an expert in any field instantly, what would you choose and why? (max. 1,000 characters)

Disclaimer: This essay was written purely as part of an application, so I had to present myself as a very thoughtful, altruistic person using very flamboyant language. I apologize in advance to anyone whom I may have induced a snort or a humph from, including my family members who pay for my lessons, my violin teachers, and my former audiences (more like victims) of my performances.

If I could become an expert instantly, I would choose to master violin. Not because I want to become a professional musician, but because mastering violin would give me rare abilities I believe are crucial for creating change. Despite years of trying (and being genuinely pathetic at it), I keep practicing because violin develops unique qualities: the patience to perfect a single note for hours, the sensitivity to understand subtle emotional differences, and the ability to connect with people's hearts, not just their minds.

I've always been logical, loving how different pieces fit together to solve problems. But violin showed me that lasting change needs both precision and emotional resonance. Throughout history, from civil rights movements to environmental protests, music has moved people to action in ways pure logic cannot. Even as I struggle with it, pursuing violin has taught me that meaningful change, like a perfect note, requires both technical mastery and emotional depth.
